Tune-In Music Festival

New York is in the middle of a new-music jamboree: Three simultaneous festivals—the Kauffman Center's Ecstatic Music, Lincoln Center's Tully Scope, and the Park Avenue Armory's Tune-In—are peppering the city with fresh, weird sounds. Of the three, Tune-In has the most interesting pedigree, as it's being curated by Eighth Blackbird, the stylistically promiscuous, technically limitless, and perpetually inventive new-music sextet. It'll culminate with Inuksuit, by the Alaskan composer John Luther Adams (pictured), featuring a clutch of ensembles and 72 percussionists roaming the Armory's vast Drill Hall.
